It's a long way to the top (if you wanna SBO).

For a Small Business Owner, the climb to the top of the mountain can be long and arduous. The decision to start your own business always comes with a mix of exhilaration and trepidation, especially if you are coming from a steady job with a reliable paycheck.

You should know there will be highs and lows along your business journey. In the classic rock song "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)," AC/DC cautions us about "Gettin' old, gettin' grey, gettin' ripped off, underpaid" - reflecting a strong parallel between a rock-star's path to gold and an aspiring SBO.

The long-term effort and sometimes thankless work that goes into pursuing your success can be a grind that requires endurance and perseverance. The thrills of autonomy, innovation, creativity, and control are always counter-balanced with uncertainty, financial risk, and a responsibility burden that can leave you in a lonely place.

Always remember that alone is no way to climb that mountain. As the SBO, the buck always stops with you. But that does not mean you cannot develop a good support organization, develop strong leadership and delegation skills, and get a guide up the mountain.

Think of an SBO Coach as a sherpa that can help you scale treacherous terrain. Someone that knows the mountain trails well and has been in your shoes before.
